Find Your North Star

For those who may not know, the North Star was the star that runaway slaves used to guide them to freedom.  Today, it is a metaphorical term used, asking if you’ve found your direction to freedom. To put it plainly, it is important that each and every person find their North Star.

Conversely, it seems today that everyone has become “tolerators.”  Tolerating jobs that you hate and that are literally sucking the life out of you; putting on fake smiles and doing just enough to not get fired.  Some tolerate relationships – business, personal, and familial that are negative, uninspiring and toxic–for the sake of not “rocking the boat,” yet you are left depressed and stuck.  Internal battles—such as procrastination, thinking/speaking negatively and shifting blame contribute to the darkness you may be experiencing, but how do you move forward and find your North Star?  The answers to life’s questions are simple, but we let the fear of the outcome cloud the decision-making process.  In turn, you end up staying in the very situation that’s hindering you.

Ways to Find Your North Star:

Decide

Decide.  Decide every construct of your life.   Who you want to be, how do you want to live and what direction would like your life to go?  Professionally, decide on not just another job, but the one (or more) thing(s) you could spend the rest of your life doing and it not feel like work. Choose the people that you want to associate and call friend.  Exclude the people that are uninspiring and toxic.  You have a choice in who you allow to occupy your time and space.Decide that you will not live another day just existing, but living, improving and forging your own path. Be selfishly self-full, so that you are capable of giving selflessly – not depleting yourself to appease others.  The decision is now, has always been and will always be yours.

Plan

Plan.  A plan is more than just writing a list of goals.  It’s creating well-thought-out directional steps to take in order to achieve an overall goal(s).  During the planning process, research, notetaking, and schedule creation, are essential elements of preparation. Plan A is the only plan.  Creating a Plan B is a sly way of ditching your original goal.  Plans will not always go as laid out; adjustments will have to be made.  It is important to see your plan thru.

Action

Action.  Your action speaks volumes.  Action puts your plan in motion–taking steps toward the life you desire and deserve.  Action is movement.  Albeit a start, deciding and planning are a waste of time without said action. Your plan is the guide of your action taken, so that you are making wise decisions and not just doing “busy work.”  Action affirms to you and the Universe that you are serious about the changes you desire.  Dare to be surprised to know the things you are capable of doing.  All talent and instinct will flourish–eradicating fear and boosting self-confidence.
